Our milk has never contained permeate, claims Aussie Farmers Direct
Aussie Farmers Direct has issued a media release in response to yesterday’s announcement that PURA and Dairy Farmers brands will no longer have permeate added during processing.
Aussie Farmers Direct says its milk does not contain permeate and never has. “It was a conscious decision we made as a business from the very start when we set up Aussie Farmers Dairy,” said Braeden Lord, CEO of Aussie Farmers Direct.
“We wanted to do the right thing for our farmers and customers by shunning modern practices to increase volumes by adding permeate. We also believe in revitalising local communities and to do this you need to support and reinvest back.”
The Aussie Farmers Direct press release claimed that “all major milk brands and home brands are foreign owned with profits going overseas”.
In May 2010, the company announced it would invest more than $5 million to redevelop the former Bonlac factory in Camperdown to process milk.
