Algatechnologies AstaPure 2% astaxanthin water-soluble emulsion

Israeli company Algatechnologies has developed a 2% natural astaxanthin in a liquid-emulsion format under the AstaPure brand name.

Natural astaxanthin is a lipid-soluble ingredient that is used in oil-based formulations. However, it also has antioxidant properties, making it suitable for use in oil-in-water cosmetic formulations and as an active functional ingredient in beverages.

Its ready-to-use formulation can be introduced into liquid-filled capsules or other water-soluble applications.

It is based on food-grade water-soluble micelles, which Algatechnologies claims results in a stable product form with respect to pH and temperature. The micelles have a diameter of about 30 nm.

The product is suitable for use in dietary supplements, cosmeceuticals and functional foods.
