New chairman for Zespri
Zespri’s Deputy Chairman and long-time kiwifruit grower, Bruce Cameron, will become chairman at Zespri in February 2019, following the announcement that Peter McBride is stepping down.
McBride has been a director of Zespri since 2002 and has served as Chairman since 2013. During this time the kiwifruit industry has grown and expanded and dealt with the impact of Psa. McBride has overseen a premium brand-led strategy and the expansion of Zespri SunGold to meet burgeoning demand in the markets.
During McBride’s tenure as Chairman, the average per hectare returns across all kiwifruit varieties has grown by 55% and growth in the share price has increased from $0.50 in March 2013 to over $8.00 a share.
McBride will be formally acknowledged for his outstanding contribution to Zespri and the New Zealand Kiwifruit Industry at the Annual Meeting next year.
