Health claims challenge the EU nutrition industry
The organisers of Vitafoods Europe* asked 190 visitors and exhibitors what were the biggest challenges facing their company.
Raw material prices and the global economy were the second and third most frequent concerns but the most cited concern was stricter regulations. 60% went on to say that health claims were their biggest regulatory concern while only 14% mentioned trade regulations and 13% mentioned labelling.
Confusingly, very nearly a quarter of respondents considered the current EU regulatory environment to be unhelpful to their companies, while more than one-third considered it helpful.
How do Australia and New Zealand companies find the regulatory environment here?
*Vitafoods Europe is a global nutraceutical event, featuring exhibitors across four key market areas: ingredients and raw materials; branded finished products; contract manufacturing and private label; and services and equipment. The event is being held from 9–11 May 2017 in Geneva, Switzerland.
