Food safety training courses

Advancing Food Safety (AFS) will present two courses in Sydney during October.

The Internal Food Safety Auditor course will be held 12–13 October 2015. The course has been updated to offer FDFAU4001A Assess Compliance with Food Safety Programs and BSBAUD402B Participate in a Quality Audit, as well as the Exemplar Global AU: Management Systems Auditing competency, which leads to personal certification with Exemplar Global as a certified internal auditor.

The course provides attendees with the knowledge and skills required to conduct an internal food safety audit against any GFSI approved food safety standard. Topics covered are:

  • Importance of internal food safety audits as part of the food safety management systems.
  • Identifying the key elements of audit schedules and audit plans.
  • Developing an audit checklist.
  • Conducting an internal food safety audit and gathering objective evidence.
  • Classifying non-conformities as major, minor, critical or opportunity for improvement.
  • Developing an audit report.
  • Identifying the best practices for ensuring your internal audits are a success.

The Quality Assurance and Food Safety Management course will be held in Sydney on 14–16 October 2015. This course provides the skills required to be an effective quality assurance manager in the food industry. The course focuses on the core compliance, leadership, risk management, management knowledge and skill requirements for quality assurance professionals to assist with implementing a food safety or HACCP program.

Topics to be covered include:

  • Managing legal compliance, maintaining customer focus and developing processes.
  • Core skills, leadership, managing risk and process control.
  • Managing food safety and quality systems, including verification activities, planning resources, budgets, reporting and communication.

The competencies attained in this course are Statement of Attainment: FDFFST5030A Develop, manage and maintain quality systems for food processing and BSBCOM502 Evaluate and review compliance.
