24th HACCP Conference is almost upon us
Held 30–31 August, registrations for the 24th HACCP Conference will soon be closing. Taking place at Doltone House in Sydney this year, the conference brings industry professionals together to discuss the issues of safety in the food industry under the theme ‘Creating Trust and Transparency in the Global Food Industry’. This theme addresses the challenges of global supply chains, maintaining farm-to-fork traceability and safeguarding brand trust.
The conference is an opportunity for attendees to knowledge-share and network with other leaders in the food safety industry, as well as celebrating their peers at the HACCP Conference Awards Dinner. Recognising those who work to ensure the safety of the food supply, the awards fall under three categories: Ross Peters Award for Excellence in Food Safety; Leaders of the Future, Food Safety Learning Scholarship; and Innovators in Food Safety.
Featuring an array of notable speakers, discussion topics will include:
- ‘Food Safety Harmonisation Project’ by Dr Geoffrey Annison, Deputy Chief Executive of Health, Nutrition and Scientific Affairs at the Australian Food and Grocery Council.
- ‘Making Networking Work’ by Fiona Craig, Networking Professional and Founder of Smart Women Connect.
- ‘Challenges in supply chain’ by Alex Holt, General Manager – Quality, Sustainability and Health at Woolworths.
- ‘War on Waste’ by Craig Reucassel, Australian writer of War On Waste and member of The Chaser.
- ‘Labels and Codes Lessons From the Shelf Edge’ by Andrea Currie, Brand Manager – Policy and Technical Standards at Coles.
Dr John Spink, Director of the Food Fraud Initiative at Michigan State University (MSU), will also deliver a keynote on food fraud. Since 2006, when MSU’s Food Safety Program began researching product fraud, Spink has been focused on this topic. He is considered a leading authority in this area and he currently serves as an adviser on food fraud to the Chinese National Centre for Food Safety Risk Assessment.
The two-day event will also include opportunities for attendees to expand their knowledge further by attending several workshops, one of which is led by Spink on ‘Expanded Review of Food Fraud Prevention Audit Compliance Requirements: GFSI, FMSA, SOX, and others’.
