2019 APPMA Scholarship winner
The Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP) has announced the winner of the 2019 APPMA Scholarship is Janell Siek, Packaging Technologist at Nestlé Australia.
The annual APPMA Scholarship program allows one person to enter into a Diploma in Packaging Technology valued at $9000. Offered exclusively through the AIP, the diploma is an internationally recognised Level 5 qualification that is designed for those wishing to pursue a career in the packaging industry, or for those who are already in the industry and wish to extend their packaging knowledge and expertise.
Siek holds a Bachelor of Science (Food Technology) with First Class Honours and has four years’ experience in the packaging industry.
“Janell sees that packaging is perhaps the most hard-working component of any product found in the retail space. She believes that packaging has a profound impact in a product’s lifecycle all the way from production to consumption and this keeps her interested in pursuing a career in packaging,” said the AIP.
She is also motivated to see sustainable innovations in the packaging industry that will help prevent the waste problem.
Siek believes the the Diploma in Packaging Technology will provide opportunities for her to learn and further her career, helping her be a part of bigger projects, work towards a position as a Senior Packaging Technologist and become a Certified Packaging Professional (CPP).
“Both the AIP and the APPMA congratulate Janelle on winning the APPMA Scholarship.”
Other finalists for the scholarship were Brittany Puyol, Product and Packaging Designer at Edlyn Foods, and Karunia Adhiputra, Packaging Technologist – Technical and Production at Nestlé Australia.
