Scholle Industries’ collaborative ‘Ask for Cask’ campaign has claimed the Industry Engagement Award at the annual Wine Industry Suppliers Australia Supplier of the Year awards in Adelaide.

Through 2014 and 2015, Scholle brought together a number of Australia’s leading winemakers in a campaign aimed at growing the cask wine market share and celebrating the iconic product in its 50th year. A communications and public relations strategy supported industry initiatives focused on both internal and external audiences.

“Scholle couldn’t be more proud of its involvement with the Ask for Cask campaign and the collaborative working relationship we have with some of the wine industry’s most important companies,” said David Evans, commercial account manager, Asia Pacific at Scholle IPN.

Cask wine contributes to the 60,000 people employed across Australia’s wine-producing regions — particularly in the Riverland, Sunraysia and Riverina, where many of the cask wine varietals are grown by communities and families who have been involved in the industry for generations.

Key supporters of the campaign included Accolade Wines Australia, DeBortoli Wines, Yalumba and CCW Co-operative. Each company has commemorated the milestone during 2015 through the launch of new products and a major birthday event in February 2015.

Today the cask is developing a more sophisticated face, with modern incarnations featuring emerging varieties — such as Tempranillo and Pinot Grigio — and sourced from premium regions such as McLaren Vale, Margaret River, Barossa and Marlborough.
