October has been declared the month of ‘nude food’, with Australian schools encouraged to eliminate unnecessary packaging to better both their own health and the health of the planet.

Nude Food Day encourages kids, parents and schools to pack healthy, rubbish-free lunches that eliminate all unnecessary packaging (wrappers, plastics and foils) any day — or every day — in October.

The Nude Food Day event was the creation of Nude Food Movers alongside major partner Nutrition Australia and coincides with Natural Nutrition Week, from 16–22 October, when Nutrition Australia asks Aussies to ‘Try for 5’ vegetables every day.

The annual Nude Food Day Creative Competition asks schools to showcase their understanding of the event. This year, schools are asked how $2000 would help make everyday a Nude Food Day in their school. The top three entries will share in a prize pool of $5000 in cash and prizes for their school.
