Qld to showcase Aussie beef industry in 2021

Queensland is primed to showcase its premier produce at Beef Australia 2021, to be held in Rockhampton from 2–8 May 2021. The Queensland Government has committed $1 million to help attract tens of thousands of visitors and international delegates from dozens of countries — either in person or as virtual visitors — to Queensland.

“We are 100% focused on our COVID-19 economic recovery and to get the state moving again, and it’s forging ahead with events like this which will help. We know Beef Australia 2018 attracted overseas delegates from 43 countries, tens of thousands of visitors and 5000 head of cattle, and we’re hoping Beef Australia 2021 will be even better,” said Mark Furner, Minister for Agricultural Development and Fisheries.

Furner revealed that beef processing directly employs 10,000 and supports a further 8000, with beef exports worth $5.37 billion to the economy. Member for Rockhampton Barry O’Rourke also voiced his support for Beef Australia 2021 in Rockhampton.

“Rocky produces some of the best and tastiest beef anywhere on the planet, thanks to our dedicated farmers and industry workers who have faced challenging recent times with bushfires, drought, floods and now COVID-19. The Beef Australia 2021 countdown has been launched virtually due to the coronavirus and I thank Mark Furner for being part of the video launch today with our friends at Beef Australia,” said O’Rourke.

Beef Australia 2021 will showcase beef produce, innovation and technology, achievements, cultural experiences and entertainment.

“It speaks volumes that Beef Australia hosts this triennial event in Rockhampton, which is renowned for being at the heart of our nation’s beef industry,” said O’Rourke.
