Chep has released the FB3 plastic hire bin that is suited to producers and processors of softer fruits and vegetables. The bin is claimed to be longer-lasting, easy to erect, weighs 40 kg and protects product integrity.
The bin is approximately half the height of Chep’s FB2 and is designed specifically for softer fruits and vegetables and to maximise supply chain efficiency.
Australian designed and built, it has a standard Australian footprint and will allow the user to stack onto the FB2 on which its design is based. It can be stacked up to five high in transport and a maximum of 10 high in static storage.
This decreases the need for third-party storage and improves supply chain costs by reducing the number of trucks needed to move product.
When not in use the FB3 bins fold down and can be stacked 20 high for storage.
Users have the flexibility to order any quantity they need, when they need them. If the season fails, the units can be returned. FB3s will be available from the same Australia-wide Chep network that currently handles the FB2.
The plastic construction allows the bins, which are delivered wrapped, to be stored outside. Even in moist cold storage of a cool room they maintain their integrity.
